CHRISTIANS TOGETHER IN HORNCASTLE AREA
•The Rapoor Fund was set up Churches Together some 17 years ago. The name is as an acronym and a pun with the word rapport, in the sense of sympathetic. The initials stand for REGULAR AID for the POOR, and the main purpose of the fund is to ensure Regular giving.
•From time to time the main charities make special appeals for particular emergencies, such as flood, earthquake and famine. These occur irregularly, but like the proverbial buses, they invariably come in groups of two or three. It was felt that to give a regular contribution each month, was a better way for donors and the recipient charities who would have funds available immediately they were needed.
•Because this is an ecumenical effort, six major charities were nominated to receive donations, Save the Children, Oxfam, Christian Aid, UNICEF, CAFOD and British Red Cross.

REGULAR AID FOR THE POOR
•Funds received are regularly given to the charities in equal amounts, by means of a standing order, administered by the bank, so there is no administration charges made upon the fund and very pound received goes directly to the Charity. As funds are earmarked for Emergency Relief this does not diminish the need for direct support for the Charities to finance their Development Projects .
Since being set up some £92,000 has been collected and distributed.
