BARDNEY
Bardney Is a village nine miles from Lincoln, with a population of about 1500. " Bardney was the site of a Great Abbey, now disappeared. This was associated with St Oswald, whose remains were according to the Venerable Bede, refused admission to the Abbey late one night. Ever after the Abbey door was never closed, hence the local expression to those who leave doors open "Do you come from Bardney?"
